Definition: As used here, Career refers to the work or volunteer relationship over time between a Person and one or more Organizations. Careerism refers to the excessive concern of a Careerist (a Person) with his or her Career to the detriment of some of his or her Needs or those of other people. A Careerist lacks Adequate Due Regard. Commentary A Person's working or volunteering relationships with Organizations can be a source of satisfaction of some of his or her Needs. However, the word Career as used herein is a neutral term that is neither Desirable or Undesirable. It is simply the title of one's relationship to one or more Organizations over time. The relationship is not necessarily one of employment. It could describe the relationship between an independent contractor or volunteer and various Organizations over time.
