Definition: Philosophy comes from the Greek φιλοσοφία, philosophia and means "love of wisdom." As used herein, Philosophy refers to the "examination of basic concepts - the branch of knowledge or academic study devoted to the systematic examination of basic concepts such as truth, existence, reality, causality, and freedom." To Philosophize means "to discuss the nature of reality - to comment on or attempt to explain the nature of life and reality, or a part of it such as ethics, logic, knowledge, or existence." *

As used herein, Practical Philosophy or Philosophizing Practically refers to the use of Philosophy by ordinary people in their development and execution of Solutions to the everyday Problems of life generally and more specifically with regard to developing and sustaining Proxima Critical Mass. The Cohesion Compendium-Glossary is designed to be a useful tool ordinary people can use in their Practical Philosophizing. Emphasis is placed on developing Social Cohesion in Practical Philosophy because without it, human Knowledge generally and the practice of the Cardinal Virtues specifically break down. Happiness becomes impossible because the Preconditions of Happiness are impossible without Adequate Social Cohesion.
