Standard Part

From The Practical Ontology & Compendium of Social Cohesion

Definition: As used herein, Standard Part refers to one or more unchanging paragraphs about a given topic that the reader of a long document or website may refer to in order to recall the content of that topic. Commentary For example, "Mission" is a defined Special Term. Its meaning is always the same across various contexts. For example, a squad of soldiers at a given moment has a certain Mission - "Take that hill!" The United States Postal Service also has a Mission, but it is not the same as the squad of soldiers. "USPS Mission" is an example of a Standard Part that readers of a long document or website about the USPS may refer to several times in order to recall exactly what the Mission of the USPS is. It is unchanging. If, however, readers were reading a training manual for soldiers, they would never come upon the Standard Part about the "USPS Mission."
