Subsidiarity

From The Practical Ontology & Compendium of Social Cohesion

Definition: Subsidiarity "is a principle of social organization that holds that social and political issues should be dealt with at the most immediate (or local) level that is consistent with their resolution." (Wikipedia) As used herein, Subsidiarity is the principle that says Households should Solve Ordinary Problems. If the Problem is an Extraordinary Problem, then a Solution-System should be sought in this sequence: First, in the Proxima, if the Household is a member of one, then the Neighborhood, Town, Metro Area, or other more appropriate political subdivisions such as a borough, county, water district; then the State (or Province) and so on up to and through the National level.
