Test Word to Wiki

From The Practical Ontology & Compendium of Social Cohesion

Definition: Test of Wiki to Word

NOTE A: When I discovered I could cut from MS Word and paste to Wiki and retain much of the MS Word formatting, there was no reason to imagine an author composing in the Wiki environment. For many reasons, MS word is a better environment in which to compose one's work. Saving MS Word documents as PDF files is the industry standard for getting a book published in printed form.

NOTE B: I cut and pasted a PDF version of the MS Word document to this Wiki page. It retained NO formatting. So, forget PDF for this process for getting content into a Wiki.

NOTE C: Below is the Table of Contents I created in MS word. It does not retain its formatting in any fashion nor its hyperlinks to the various pages of the book. Hence there is no point to cut and paste a Table of Contents from a MS Word document. A Table of Contents must be created after the MS Word document is in the wiki.

=== Start ===

I. Heading 1. 1

A - Heading 2. 1

Ch. #1 - Heading 3. 1

A) Heading 4. 1

#1         Heading 5. 1

1) Heading 6. 1

(a) Heading 7. 1

(1) Heading 8. 1

(i) Heading 9. 1

=== End ===

NOTE D: Below is the result when I cut from the MS Word document my standard book formatting with nine levels and pasted it to this Wiki page. (Not "pasted here as plain text.") The heading levels were retained through six. Simple solution: Limit my use of heading levels in Word to six. I can do that!

=== Start ===

I. Heading 1

This is a sentence.

A - Heading 2

This is a sentence.

Ch. #1 - Heading 3

This is a sentence.

A) Heading 4

This is a link to Special Term.

#1               Heading 5

This is a red sentence. (This was supposed to be indented to be inline with the above heading.)

1) Heading 6 (This was supposed to be indented even further to the right.)

This is a sentence written in Arial 12. (This was supposed to be indented to be inline with the above heading.)

(a) Heading 7 (This was supposed to be indented even further to the right.)

This is a sentence. (This was supposed to be indented to be inline with the above heading.)

(1) Heading 8 (This was supposed to be indented even further to the right.)

This is a sentence. (This was supposed to be indented to be inline with the above heading.)

(i) Heading 9 (This was supposed to be indented even further to the right.)

This is a sentence. (This was supposed to be indented to be inline with the above heading.)

=== End ===

Question #1: When I save this page, the Wiki numbering scheme for headings appears. I am using the heading number scheme I create in MS Word. How do I prevent the Wiki numbering scheme from appearing?

Question #2: Is there a way for me to change the color of some heading from black to something else?

Question #3: For some reason, the "increase indent" and "decrease indent" feature of the Visual Editor is not working. How can it be made to work? By me using it after the MS Word document is copied to the Wiki, I could systematically use it to get the indentation scheme I want.

Question #4: Come to think of it - Is there a way of uploading an entire MS Word document? That would be a lot faster than cutting and pasting. Also, would uploading vs cut and pasting making a difference in retaining more of the document's formatting?

Question #5: The above hyperlink to "Special Term" works! The question is how can I edit it so that the page opens in the Column B I-Frame described in my February 8th email?
