As used herein, Transaction refers to a discrete conveyance, i.e., an Event, in the realm of Communication.

Commentary

Examples of Transactions include -

- In accounting, entering a debit and credit in the journal of an Organization refers to a particular Transaction

- Depositing or withdrawing money at the bank is a Transaction

- Dropping a love letter in a U.S. Mail Box is a Transaction

- Beating your spouse last Saturday night around 8:00 p.m. was a Transaction

- Hiking the ball in an American-style football game is a Transaction

All of the above examples are discrete conveyances or Events in the realm of Communication. They are not parts of Conversations.

Argument

Just as we need the term "Communication" in order to set off the unique importance of Conversation, we need the term "Transaction" in order to Attend to particular Aspects of Communication; particular conveyances.
